Meet Alexandra from Ora et Schola

Alex Resch Headshot

Hello, I’m Alexandra!

It’s so nice to meet you!

Ora et schola is the place to find homeschool curricula tips, how to homeschool, and resources for teaching the Catholic faith.

My blog reaches hundreds of Catholic parents and educators each month. My passion is helping others teach the Faith and grow in virtue while doing it. My goal is to help you find true peace and grow closer to Christ.

I am a former educator turned homeschool mom. I live with my husband and children in New York, and I bring over 10 years of experience teaching in my home, in my parish, and in private schools.

The name of my website “Ora et Schola” was inspired by the Benedictine motto “Ora et Labora” which means “pray and work.” The motto reflects the Benedictine’s belief in the balance of prayer with work, and how they complement each other. “Ora et schola” is a spin on this motto and means “pray and school.”

The Catechism of the Catholic church states that:

…”the home is the first school of Christian life and ‘a school for human enrichment.'” CCC 1657

Whether you homeschool or not, the home is the primary school of your children and you are their primary educators – especially in passing on the faith! Ora et Schola is a place to help equip you for building up your “school for human enrichment” while growing in wisdom and virtue yourself. Prayer will be at the center of it all.
